One of Tech Nation’s Rising Star winners for 2023, Purrmetrix is building the most flexible, comprehensive and simple tools to measure and understand housing performance. Using a portable IoT toolset, our tests can be applied alongside any survey or site visit to collect data and deliver benchmarks of fabric performance. Each toolset can be used for testing on multiple homes over the winter.

We believe monitoring housing performance drives better results from retrofit and repair projects, so our job is to make it easy. A few weeks of data and our powerful analytics gives a range of insights on the performance of housing fabric – so you make better decisions and get better outcomes from retrofit and repair projects.

Our work over the past decade has generated results from hundreds of homes for customers like Places for People, Notting Hill Genesis, Coventry City Council, Hoare Lea and Wates. Our analytics and platform have delivered thousands of tests from millions of data points in temperature, humidity, CO2 and energy. London Borough of Havering have been testing with Purrmetrix during the first wave of SHDF, to augment their EPC data and survey work with additional data on the archetypes. Funding was confirmed late in the heating season, being able to quickly deploy test systems was useful.

The data identified homes with high heat loss and ventilation rates and gave confidence for models being used to design upgrades.

Post works it has confirmed improvements in heat loss (>25% improvement on average), ventilation rates (>33%) and energy consumption, confirming that the project has delivered more affordable comfort to residents and identifying the homes where the impact has been greatest.

“The data provided by Warmscore is really helpful in developing our understanding of what is happening in our homes. We’re looking forward to getting additional measurements post works to confirm all is working correctly’” Robert Ditsell, Project Manager

Most test kits are standard but we also have options to create bespoke kits including measurement of current, movement and light.

All our kits come with free training on how to install and configure tests, warranty for first year of hardware performance and a year of SIM data.

We asked: What do you bring to Social Housing and the customer, the tenant?

They said: Purrmetrix allows landlords to identify the homes that most urgently need upgrades and to understand what upgrades are needed. Our Warmscore system measures performance before and after upgrades, demonstrating that work is completed correctly. For repair work, Warmscore collects the data that can analyse risk of mould and help understand the root causes of mould risk. Ultimately for tenants this means the right upgrades and repairs are applied to the right homes, making them more comfortable and cheaper to run.
